MTD State of the Art Components

Wood

Wood for my American made instruments comes from various sources. Avadore, Korina, ebony and Wenge from Africa. Myrtle, maple, ash, alder, domestic tulipwood from the US. Mahogany, pauferro, and certain rosewoods from South America.

Components

I try to use as much wood as possible from managed forests. I make regular trips to lumber suppliers to hand select the wood used for my instruments.

Once the wood is in my shop, it is sorted by species. It is then stacked and allowed to dry until it reaches the desired moisture content. After that it is milled into useable sizes and stacked again to be used when ready. The shop is maintained year round at a temperature and humidity range that varies from 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit and 40-45% humidity

Electronics

The electronics in the American and Saratoga instruments are custom made in the USA only for MTD by Bill Bartolini.

Hardware

  • All new instruments feature the Buzz Feiten Tuning System.

  • Bridges and tuners are custom manufactured in the USA by Hipshot for the American and Saratoga models. Bridges and Tuners for Heir and Kingston models are made in Korea to Hipshot design specifications.

  • Strap buttons are Strap Lok compatible.
